Part2
He does not have common sense. He is dirty. He is smelly. He is delusional, thinking he looks great with those beard. He hates children. He doesn’t mind eating children. He tortures monkeys. He traps and eats birds. He hates his wife. He loves tricking his wife. He is a retired monkey trainer. He is Mr Twit.
There signs of him being a cannibal as he doesn’t mind eating boys that he accidentally trap. Clearly, he doesn’t have a conscious anymore to tell him what is right.
He is a little paranoid as his house doesn’t have windows; fearing people might come looking inside his house, to steal or stalk.
His wife, who is no better than him, gets to be trick by him. The wife, of course, retaliates with another prank. It’s a never ending cycle. Sadly, they do not seem to understand how marriage works. Marriage is about compromisation and to accept their short-comings to work together. It’s not a contract; it’s an ongoing negotiation. It’s helping each other for the better and hurting each other. Although, at times they do help each other; it’s not for the best, it’s for the worse. As evident of them buying huge guns with 50 bullets- just to eat a bird pie. If things don’t go their way, they will blame each other. It’s really makes me wonder how did they fell in love and get married. Only by superficial look? It was stated that Mrs Twit was beautiful when she was young.
Mr Twit might sound like a stereotype villain who is not 3 dimensions but of all his flaws, but at least he still has a dream or goal (to have 1st upside down monkey circus). Which in a sense humanize him to a certain small degree. His plus point though, was outshined by his bad points (unsurprising). Although, I would like to know how or why he became like that. I mean no one could be born mean spirited. Surely maybe, there was a wrongful guidance or traumatic past or event that made him….a twit? The author should have explore more on their past. It will make them more human.
I know I might sound hard to please but still, even if the book’s aim is for children (in a comedic genre) there is room for improvement in this story. It’s a predictable story with little plot. A typical villains-die-in-the-end story. Carefully crafted English wasted on such mediocre plot. It’s a bit of a waste, I feel. The story could have been much better if the author took time in developing the background story of the characters.
Well, at least there are morals in this story. Such as;
1)Marriage is not as simple as it looks (both meanings of looks).
2)Do not be cruel to animals.
3)Do not have long beards-if you do wash them regularly.
4)Do not be cruel or mean spirited.
5) And lastly, don’t be a twit.
